Let us make your dream hunt a reality!
Hunting opportunities on Walking Horse are varied and diverse. You never know just what you might see when you head out for your hunt. We have invested great time and resources into building and sustaining an environment in which wildlife thrives. Serengeti Bend and Walking Horse have worked closely with Texas Parks & Wildlife biologists and with top private wildlife biologists, exotic game experts and whitetail deer breeders.
Over a decade ago we began introducing exotic game, including African “Super Exotics.” Exotic wildlife has flourished and is benefited by the same quality management as the whitetail herd. We offer hunts for Blackbuck Antelope, Axis Deer, Fallow Deer, Gemsbok, Wildebeest, Aoudad, Impala, Eland, Wildebeest, Oryx, Addax, Mouflan, multiple species of exotic rams and more. One of the great things about hunting exotics in Texas is that there are no defined seasons. Exotics can be hunted 365 days a year!
Whitetail deer was the original focus of the ranch and we have been aggressively managing the whitetail herd for nearly 15 years now and are consistently producing outstanding native Hill Country bucks. Additionally, over a decade ago we introduced genetically superior whitetail to the ranch to increase the overall quality of the herd. Mature bucks generally range from 130 to 180. In addition to trophy whitetail we offer “management buck” hunts. Management bucks are respectable trophies but may have peaked at eight main frame points or are an older trophy buck in decline. Our hunters can also harvest does, spikes, and culls which are included in the base fee for their hunt.
Hunters are welcome to use rifle, pistol, bow or crossbow. Hunts are conducted from either tower or ground blinds, bow blinds/platforms, Safari-style high rack, or by employing spot and stalk techniques. All tower blinds are new, seat up to three people and have steps and safety rails instead of ladders. Ground blinds for movement impaired clients are available. Hunting from blinds is generally the most successful method for most species, given the brush cover, but we do encourage our hunters to try spot and stalk techniques as well. We pride ourselves on safe and ethical hunting practices. As such, there is no canned hunting on Walking Horse. All hunted wildlife freely roams the entire property.
